Dovka: A Family BoatDovka is a special boat. She's a 1985 Hallberg Rassy 352, built in Sweden on the Island of Orust. You can learn more about HR here and more about the 352 as well.
She's the only Hallberg Rassy we know of that has a green stripe instead of a blue one. Built in 1985, she spent most of her life being sailed by Ben's parents, Sid and Rebecca Shaw. They sailed her down to the Caribbean, up to Nova Scotia, and across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. During that time they made many modifications and upgrades to suit their needs. In 2020, just before the world shut down, we trucked Dovka from the Chesapeake Bay to the San Francisco Bay. Over the next two-and-a-half years Ben did a major refit. Nearly all the systems were overhauled: running and standing rigging, plumbing and through-hulls, electrical, engine, and more. There will always be more projects, but Dovka is once again fit to safely take us cruising near and far. |
